The Lincoln County School District Board of Directors is seeking to fill 3 vacancies on the LCSD Budget Committee.
Budget Committee members serve an important role in the School District’s budgeting process by hearing the District’s budget message, considering public comment on the budget, incorporating changes as necessary, and approving the budget document prior to adoption by the Board. The annual time commitment is only 4-10 hours in the month of May and includes reviewing the proposed budget document to be released on May 6, 2021, and participation in the meeting of the Budget Committee on May 13, 2021, from 7-9 pm. Two additional meetings are scheduled for May 18 and May 20, 2021, from 7-9 pm should they be needed. Past experience with budgets is helpful but not required. Training will be provided in April on a date to be decided. The positions for Zones 1 and 5 are for three budget cycles. Zone 4 will be for two budget cycles.
Those interested in serving in this volunteer position may not be employees of LCSD, must currently reside in the respective zone, and must be registered voters. Zone 1 represents the North County Lincoln City/Otis area, Zone 4 represents the East County Toledo/Siletz/Eddyville area and Zone 5 represents the South County Waldport/Yachats/Tidewater area. A complete description of the zones is on file at the LCSD administration office in Newport as well as at the Lincoln County Clerk’s office at the courthouse in Newport.
Applications are available on the school district website under the “Get Involved” drop-down menu (www.lincoln.k12.or.us) and at the Teaching and Learning Center which is the District administration office at 1212 NE Fogarty St. in Newport.
Applications must be received in the district office by the end of day Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by the board during January 12, 2021, Regular Board Meeting. The board hopes to appoint representatives to these positions at that meeting.
