This afternoon at about 2:30 PM, Toledo Elementary School was in a Code Red Lockdown for about 5 minutes. A student saw a man walking around outside and the student thought he was wearing a holster and gun. Our School Resource Officer (SRO), Deputy Landry was on site and quickly investigated. The man did not have a holster or gun, but was a Cisco delivery driver that was looking for the best route out of the parking lot due to dismissal traffic. It was confirmed that this was the man the student had seen. Deputy Landry quickly was able to notify school administration to cancel the Code Red Lockdown.
We are thankful that the student made a quick report. It is always better to be safe than sorry. See Something, Say Something. We are thankful that SRO Landry was at TOES when the incident happened, and for his timely response. And we are thankful for and proud of our students and staff for quickly following our established safety protocols.
